GIVING BACK
Giving back is not something I schedule around my work or treat as a side project. It is part of who I am and how I try to show up in the world.
I was raised to believe that community matters. That the places we live, the people we grow alongside, and the opportunities we are given come with a responsibility to give something back in return. Over the years, that belief has shaped many of my decisions and continues to guide how I choose to invest my time, energy, and resources.
I am proud to be partnered with Atlético Ottawa and to work alongside organizations that serve and protect some of the most important members of our community. These include CHEO, Canadian Blood Services, and and the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club. Each of these organizations plays a vital role in supporting children, families, and individuals during moments when support matters most.
Soccer has been a particularly meaningful avenue for giving back. It has an incredible ability to bring people together, create confidence in young people, and open doors that might not otherwise exist. In 2022, I was honoured to receive the Volkswagen Canada Gamechangers Award for my efforts to give back through soccer. While the recognition was humbling, the true reward has always been seeing the impact on the people and families involved.
Giving back reminds me that success is not only measured by milestones or achievements, but by the positive effect we have on others along the way. It keeps me grounded, grateful, and focused on what truly matters.
This commitment to community is not driven by recognition or expectation. It comes from a genuine desire to contribute to the city that raised me and continues to give so much to my family and me. It is something I carry with me in every aspect of my life, and something I am deeply proud of.
